Check out the science behind our formula’s components

Vegan Protein

With 20g of the finest vegan protein per serving - a blend of pea and brown rice protein - this is one of the core pillars of the Thrive stack. Why pea and rice? Because combined, they contain all 9 essential amino acids (that your body doesn’t produce by itself) that are needed to support body-wide function, muscle growth and repair (hello workout gains). Crucially, they are also shown to be much more digestible forms of protein, easier on the digestive tract than typical proteins - both whey and vegan - and have low potential for allergenic responses. For those who suffer from food reactivity and IBS, this may be the protein for you!  The blend also contains bioactive compounds such as polyphenols and other antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibre and phytochemicals which have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-hypertensive, cardio-metabolic-supporting and gut-nourishing properties.

With a superior amino acid profile, free from lactose, gluten and soy, hypo-allergenic, easily digestible and high protein-low carb, this premium, keto-friendly blend is ideal for both athletes and non-athletes alike looking for a clean, gut-friendly (and animal-friendly!) source of protein - with added benefits.

Naturally Occurring BCAAs

Our blend of pea and brown rice protein contains all nine essential amino acids (so is a complete protein), alongside being especially rich in all three of the key Branched-Chain Amino Acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine). These select BCAAs are important for fuelling working muscles, protein synthesis and muscle growth and repair, as well as energy production - including supporting endurance -  during exercise. They can even be used by the body as a source of fuel during periods of intense exercise or when dietary protein intake is insufficient, helping to avoid muscle breakdown.

Naturally Occurring Amino Acids

Amino acids offer multiple benefits outside of sports. Aside from their role in muscle growth, repair, and recovery; in the development of muscle post-workout; and in improving exercise performance and endurance by reducing muscle fatigue and promoting energy production, they offer broader-ranging body-wide support. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins throughout the body, so play a role in various bodily functions. They aid cognitive function and mood; contribute to immune function; can assist in hormone production; and are key for optimal nervous system function. For body and mind wellness.

Digestive Enzymes

Many supplements can cause bloating or discomfort, which is why our stack of Prebiotics, Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes has been specifically formulated to help improve gut - and whole body - health. Digestive enzymes are a key part of this as they help the body to absorb nutrients. This ensures that all of the nutrients in our products can be rapidly absorbed and used by the body.

Probiotics

Probiotics are “good” bacteria that support digestive health and help to maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Importantly, they also support the gut-brain-axis - that’s right, our mental wellbeing and cognition. When it comes to probiotics, it’s a case of the more strains the better and paired with our prebiotics AND digestive enzymes, it’s a recipe for cornerstone good gut - and whole body - health.

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are a food source for probiotics i.e. they provide a base from which probiotics can feed and grow. Having probiotics and prebiotics in our blend is essential to getting the gut working in harmony.

Short Chain

Fatty Acids

These little powerhouses provide energy for the gut and have anti-inflammatory properties. Scientifically speaking, this means they help reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase the production of anti-inflammatory markers. This helps to reduce muscle damage and soreness, for better recovery from exercise. High levels have been found in top performing athletes, showing how essential they are to performance.

Nootropics

Nootropics are elements that can improve cognitive functions such as memory, focus, creativity, and mental clarity. They are designed to enhance brain performance and support optimal cognitive functioning. We add these to our products because we know that good health comprises both mind and body.

Fibre

Fibre has a beneficial impact on digestive health, weight management, blood sugar control, and cardiovascular health. It promotes healthy digestion by aiding in regular bowel movements, preventing constipation and can help promote fullness. Importantly, it plays a crucial role as “food” for our microbiota (good gut bacteria) which is essential to a healthy gut, mind and body. Furthermore, fiber plays a role in regulating blood sugar levels, as it slows down the absorption of glucose. Additionally, fibre supports heart health by reducing cholesterol levels and promoting the removal of excess cholesterol from the body.

Electrolytes

Electrolytes are minerals that are essential for a variety of bodily functions, including regulating fluid balance, maintaining blood pressure, and supporting muscle and nerve function, including optimal muscle function and contractions in sports performance. This is key for the times when you undertake strenuous exercise or experience excessive sweating as they keep you hydrated, which is key to good physical and mental performance.

Botanical Extracts

Herbal extracts and botanicals are natural plant-derived substances that are used for their medicinal properties. They have been used for centuries for their therapeutic benefits, and are commonly used in traditional medicine.

Examples of herbal extracts in our formulas include turmeric, gotu kola, haskap berry, saw palmetto, and rhodelia rossea, amongst others. These substances are believed to have a variety of health benefits, such as supporting immune function, reducing inflammation, and improving cognitive function, among others.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are key in both brain and body-wide health and sports performance. They can reduce muscle soreness and promote recovery by protecting the body from the harmful effects of free radicals that are produced during exercise. They’re also key in protecting the brain and mitochondria (cellular power houses) against damage,  promoting healthy cognition, energy and longevity. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and tissues, and they are generated when the body undergoes intense physical activity. Antioxidant nutrients we harness in Thrive products include not only our antioxidant-rich pea and brown rice protein blend, but added vitamin C, selenium, glutamine, and extracts such as haskap berry and turmeric - amongst others.

Adaptogens

An adaptogen is a natural substance, typically derived from plants, that helps the body adapt to and cope with various stressors, both physical and mental. Adaptogens work by supporting the body's stress response system, helping to restore balance and promote overall well-being. Our products make use of adaptogens for their stress relieving properties - which is essential in today’s world.
